Zvika would like to express his deepest condolences to Rami's family for loosing him {22-06-00} one week after his 2nd lung transplant. Rami was my friend. May he rest in peace.
06-17-2000
Tomorrow will be 5 months since the big surgery. I feel great and hope to enjoy the next 5 months the same way I did in the past.05-29-2000
Life is treating me just fine. I feel great and my fev.1 is up to 104%
so I don't have any complaints.
05-12-2000
As you all know, no news is the best news. By me, everything is just
great and all I can ask for is to stay that way.
04-18-2000
It is my birthday today I'm 42 years old {who ever thought I will
make it to this age}. It is also exactly 3 months since the big day
01-18-2000. I'm doing great so far and hope to be around for
another 42 years.
04-09-2000
It is almost 3 months since the big operation and everything is just fine. My fev.1 is up to 92%. For the first time in 3 years, I went horseback riding. I'm sure my horse Andrew didn't recognize me. Riding him for 1 1/2 hours was just great. I hope it wasn't too hard on him since I gained about 20 Lbs. in the past 2 1/2 months.
03-21-2000
It is more than 2 months now and the feeling is great. All the tests show that every thing is fine so far, and I hope that there will be many years to follow.03-11-2000
It is 7 weeks since the big operation and I'm feeling great. I started
to work (driving my taxi) and it gives me a lot of hope for a good future.
02-28-2000
Today I went for my first checkup after the transplant. The results of
all the tests were very good.
02-17-2000
Finally, I'm out of the hospital after being there a whole month. I feel great and hope to stay like that.01-20-2000
On January 18th, about 4pm, Zvika got the phone call he has been waiting for over a year. “We have a donor,” and I'll meet you at Chaim Sheba Medical Center Tel Hashomer, said Gila the transplant coordinator.
Surgery had started at 9pm and Professor Yalen came out of the surgery room the following morning at 5am to give us the Good News, “The surgery went well and Zvika is doing very good”. At 6am, Zvika was moved to the I.C.U. and at about 4pm, January 19th, he woke up and pointed his thumb up to tell us he is OK. Later on, he was talking and even making jokes.
At the moment we don’t know much about the donor except that he is a young man in his early 20’s from Haifa.
Zvika and his family would like to express their deepest condolences to the family and to congratulate them on their brave decision to donate their son’s organs.
That decision gave Zvika and others, one more chance at Life.
More good news to come later on!
01-10-2000
Today I sent the last medical form to the hospital in L.A. and I hope to get an answer from them within two weeks. Hope it will be positive answer, and up we fly.
02-01-2000
As I woke up this morning I heard the horrible news on the radio.
Last night during the change of days Lisa Ostrovsky passed away from our world. The little girl was fighting so hard for her life, she never gave up, her little body did.
14-12-99
From the last update I received from the doctors here in Israel I learned that Lisa is in critical condition. She has only 5%-10% chance of staying alive. Mr. Ronald Johnson was on TV program in Israel and was welcomed to the studio with a standing ovation. What a gentleman!!!!
13-12-99
Last week, Lisa underwent a high-risk operation due to high fever and an infection blocking her food tracts. She is now back on a lung-heart machine and her life is in urgent danger. Please say a pray for her.
11-12-99
Ronald Johnson the angel from England was invited to our country to be a gust in one of the most popular Israeli TV talk show. He will be visiting us this coming week and we are all welcoming him.
09-12-99
The girl Lisa Ostrovsky was taken of the lung machine her situation is better now. My general filling is ok and I'm still waiting.
25-11-99
So far Lisa is doing ok, but it is much to early to know the outcome of this surgery. Mr. Ronald Johnson is ok and in stable condition, we hope for the best. There is some one that shows some interest in donating part of his lung, to try and save my life. Until he gives a total agreement I will not be able to write any more about it.
24-11-99
I was able to find some information about the wonderful man from England that donated part of his lung to a C.F. girl whom he never met. If you wish to read about him please do his name is Ronald Johnson. I received some information that the girl by the name of Lisa was operated on, and so far she is doing fin. Lets all pray for her.22-11-99
Things are still the same, nothing spectacular had happened that could change my life. At this time as I'm writing these worlds one of our C.F. friends from Israel is on her way to the operating room some where in the U.S. for a lobe transplant, we wish her the best. She was so lucky to have a complete stranger from England donating a lobe to save her life. {what a wonderful gentleman}.
I guess I'm not that fortunate, and I'm still short of 1 donor.
11-11-99
Today I had some personal things to take care of. It was about 1/2 an hour away from home by car. Mali my wife and I went by a taxi, and it was the first time in months that I left my house for such a long time. It was just great being out, seeing people and get some suntan. After finishing we took a lunch break in a cafe and it was the best time I had in months. My brother who is visiting from the U.S. was the lucky one to pick us up and drive us back home.
08-11-99
Another month has passed by and I'm still waiting and looking but unfortunately nothing happened . I know that time is running short for me but there is nothing that can be done other than hopping for the best. Last week I was notified that a friend who I never met in person, had just passed away. Our oxygen supplier got us to talk to each other by exchanging phone numbers between us. We had many things in common. We both were getting a weekly delivery of oxygen , we both were waiting for a lung transplant and we both wanted to live. His name was Shmuel and he did not have C.F.. Well it doesn't make a different any more. I only knew him for the past 4 months but I feel like I lost a childhood friend.
06-10-99
Since only 1 donor out of the 3 I had was a perfect match, I'm looking for 1 more and until than I'm waiting for that Phone call from my hospital.30-09-99
Just got out from the hospital, after 5 days of being there. A strong pain in the right lung drove me crazy but after 3 days and some antibiotics it went away. One of our friends had passed away, after a 1 lung transplant (split in 2).30-08-99
My general feeling is o.k. Since I opened my site, few people visited it and left nice massages in the guest book.
23-08-99
A bird whispered in my ear that within few days the C.F. Foundation of Israel is opening their own web site, MAZAL TOV! (Good luck).
